Honoring Uncle Misho

Friends Remember Husein Hasani

The world as we know it is changing.  Sometimes, I think that it's not only changing, it's ending - little by little.  In either case, they called him Uncle Misho. His real name was Husein Hasani and he recently died.


Uncle Misho was the last working shoe shiner in all of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Flowers and candles are being left at the chair where he worked on the city's main street. There is a movement to erect a monument in his honor.
