Christ Statue Struck By Lightning

Last Thursday night, the "Christ the Redeemer" statue in Brazil was struck by lightning.

The famous statue has stood, overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro, since 1931. The statue is 98 feet tall and sits on a pedestal atop the 2.300 foot Mt. Corcovado.

One of the thumbs on the statue was destroyed by a lightning strike.
