Leno Show Dies

According to the ratings, not too many people should care, but the Jay Leno Show is being cancelled. NBC says that the Jay Leno Show was doing about as well as they expected it to do. The network big shots are in denial, doing what they do best - covering their collective asses. It is very important for network TV executives to cover their asses. You see, the decision to allow Letterman to leave for CBS has finally come around to bite them in the ass. It's better when your ass is covered. This is the premise for the insurance industry, but I digress. They (the Network TV Execs) called the Jay Leno Show at 10PM an experiment! You do not experiment with prime time TV, especially at 10 PM when viewership is (or is not) delivered to the local 11PM News! The late local news is bread and butter for the local stations! Network affiliates are concerned because fewer people are watching their late local news - they were chased away by Leno's poor showing! In the TV business, this is important.

So, what's going to happen to Leno, Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon? Who cares! They all have big time network TV contracts. They will get paid if they work or not. I am sure that NBC will screw it up. Leno should retire. If not, Conan will go to Fox.

I am feeling better and better about going to bed at 10PM.
