Ernest Borgnine Passes At 95

I always saw the guy as real in a world of Hollywood "make believe."  Ernest Borgnine was born in 1917, the son of Italian immigrants. He was a decorated sailor in the '30s, reenlisting for WWII. He won one Academy Award for his starring role in the movie Marty. If you haven't seen this movie, you should. It is dated, set in the 1950s...which makes sense because it was filmed in '54. The Oscar win for Borgnine was no walk in the park. Also nominated for Best Actor was Frank Sinatra, James Dean, who had died by the time of the ceremony, and former Best Actors winners Spencer Tracy and James Cagney. In the picture is Grace Kelly (does it get any better than this?) presenting the Academy Award to Borgnine.

Here's a famous scene from the movie, Marty. This is how you win an Academy Award!

R.I.P, Mr Borg9!
