Oktoberfest!

There are really not enough fun and worthwhile traditions remaining in the modern world. Yesterday, in Munich, the 179th Oktoberfest began. I have been there. It is a classic! There's nothing too complicated about the Oktoberfest. You are served the best beer in the world, listen to traditional German music and share the zest for life which is common among the locals.  The party lasts 2 weeks.  There are certain side dishes available. There are rides and attractions which make the Oktoberfest akin to a state fair. Bottom line is that the Oktoberfest is a gift, created by a previous generation and preserved for two centuries. It's not every day that you can preserve a tradition while having a good time.
