American soldier, proudly preserving our right to restrict smokers' rights. |
This past week, the New York City Council voted 35 - 10 in favor of raising the legal age for buying cigarettes from 18 to 21. Mayor Bloomberg says he'll sign the bill. The law takes effect in six months.
The reason for the bill is to lessen the the number of kids getting hooked on nicotine. Won't work. Kids are resourceful.
Thank you, city council for looking out for us and for restricting our freedoms. We appreciate this.
Oh, we also appreciate all you've done to raise the price of a pack of smokes to a minimum of $10.50. You are clearly looking out for the consumer.
The real result of this legislation is to likely make New York City the world capital of BOOTLEG CIGARETTES. Oh, City Council members, you may be surprised to know that bootleggers don't pay ANY taxes!
