Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro |
The famous statue has stood, overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro, since 1931. The statue is 98 feet tall and sits on a pedestal atop the 2.300 foot Mt. Corcovado.
One of the thumbs on the statue was destroyed by a lightning strike.
