LeBron James |
Free agent LeBron James has a choice to make. Of course, he's already made the choice, we just don't know what it is, yet. ESPN is producing a one hour show for Thursday, July 8, where LeBron will tell the world where he will be playing basketball during the 2010 - 2011 season. Some of his NBA colleagues will also be announcing their choices. James promises to make his announcement withing the first 10 minutes of the show. He also insists that the show be sponsored with lots of commercial messages so that lots and lots of maney can be donated to charity.
What a bunch of crap! Thank you, ESPN, for catering to the hype, ego, greed and basic bad taste that this one hour fiasco will surely be! It's the pro-wrestling-ization of American sport. I'd love to hear what Howard Cosell would have to say about this! I'm guessing that the unemployment rate among NBA fans far exceeds the national 10% rate...and we're talking about the possibility of the world's first billionaire basketball player!
I prefer basketball - the game! Devoid of hype and greed and the side show tactics found in the NBA. What's the answer?
The answer is High School Basketball! It's real.
