Today In History...

Yuri Gagarin

Our European Bureau Chief, Benny Brown reminds us that today marks a significant anniversary in modern history.

Today is the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin being launched into space. He and his Vostok 1 spacecraft were mankind's first foray into manned spaceflight.

I will mention it repeatedly this evening, (on Radio Luxembourg) and I'll play John Stewart's "Armstrong," the only song that genuinely fits.

But I'd wager it gets very little exposure on American media outlets. We know why, don't we?

Thanks, Benny!
