Olympics

The Olympics! I love the Olympics! It's true international sporting competition. It's also more than that. The Olympics can be considered as a diplomatic triumph (at times). It can be considered as a "Gold Mine" for local NBC TV stations. These stations can charge HUGE prices for commercial time during the games. It's like having a 17 day Super Bowl! Well, almost. If the opening ceremony is an indication of what is to follow, I think many of us will be disappointed. During the epic, larger-than-life opening ceremony wifey and I were watching DVRed episodes of Judge Joe Brown. Sorry, but the charm of the Industrial Revolution means very little to me.

Bottom line is that local business people will have to pay more to see themselves on TV (commercials). Should we tell them about the "skip forward" button on our DVRs?

Let the GAMES begin!
