Man finds $1M Lottery Ticket

Marvin Martinez
He was working for a landscaper, cleaning up after Hurricane Sandy when he found a lottery ticket amid some wet leaves. 27 year old Marvin Martinez, was working in Bayville, NY when he saw the three numbers matched on the “Win $1,000 a Week for Life” scratch card.

He had to wait a full year to see if anybody else claimed the ticket. Nobody did - so, he wins! He got married last month but never told his wife about the ticket. She works "fast food." When reporters came to the house, he told her. Martinez decided to take the lump sum payment which comes to $515,612, after taxes. He says that he plans to continue working 6 days a week, buy a house, help his mom pay some bills and maybe take a honeymoon trip.

This is a rare case where you don't necessarily have to be "in it to win it."
