Pig Pardoned Prior To Bacon Fest

I feel good about this one!

The Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival was held today at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. I am told that this is a very popular event. Tickets were sold out within 3 hours of going on sale, with more than 8,000 people expected to consume 10,000 pounds of bacon.

One day before the event, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad issued an official pardon to a 30 pound 2 1/2 month old Berkshire pig named Bonnie. Bonnie was selected at random. The porker will become a "farm pet" at Eden Farms in Iowa.

This pig story seems a little "fishy" to me. Isn't it common knowledge that you never "name" an animal that is being raised for food?
