I have always considered the Los Angeles Dodgers to be in illegit team.  When they abandoned Brooklyn it was a slap in the face to everyone who ever supported them through thick and thin (mostly thin) one lousey season after another - except for their one World Championship Season in the 1950s.  Yes, Los Angeles gave dem bums the promise of a brighter future.  Back East, we called it greed.  Greed is an ugly thing.  It's ugly and can be hurtful.

Fortunately there are those of us who refuse to be victims of this type of greed.  We do not NEED a professional sports team to survive.  They are not necessary for us to THRIVE!

Sure, a beer and a hot dog at a Major League Ballpark is a refreshingly American thing.  Unfortunately greed can screw this up as we watch 18 young male multi-millionaires play a kid's game.  Who's paying those ginormous salaries?  YOU ARE!

The following is not confirmed to be true, at this time.  It looks like real fans will be replaced by stupid people with no sense of the value of money.  Going to a Dodgers game on an empty stomach translates to just another step on your path to bankruptcy.

Friday Foto ~ ELLIE as we celebrating 20 years of blogging

I am getting ready to celebrate 20 years of having this blog.  Lots of people have gravitated toward podcasts and I could, too.  The reason that I haven't is because I don't think that the spoken word or even the recorded spoken word has as much impact at the written word, especially when the written word is augmented with nice color pictures,  Here I have found a couple of nice color pictures which should satisfy most of you.  I've noticed that over the past 20 years that my Friday Foto features are the most viewed.  Here you go...

Here name is Ellie and that's all I know.  She's popular on Facebook Reels.  Now she's popular, here.

Goodbye, Anheuser-Busch

G

oodbye Anheuser Busch.  I've been a customer for over 55 years.  During this time I have enjoyed your product.  I must admit that when I was stationed in Germany, I opted for the local brew instead of yours.  For the most part, I've been a Bud guy.  I never liked light beer, too much water.  I'm sure that you guys have very good reasons for partnering with a famous trans sexual.  That's OK with me.  It's just not my "cup of tea" or in this case, my "can of beer."

I'm not saying that the world should boycott your product.  I'm just saying that I think it's odd that you should do what you did.  Again, do whatever the hell you want to.  It's your right, a right that I helped to defend.

Meanwhile, I'll exercise my right to switch brands of beer.

The top-selling item at Walmart .......... is BANANAS! The company sells about 1 billion pounds annually around the world, which works out to 32 pounds of bananas every second of the day.

NFL Title Games ~ 1/24/21

So, here we go.  Who's going to be in the Super Bowl?  Tampa Bay or Green Bay?  Kansas City or Buffalo?  I can't remember when it's ever been this difficult to pick winners at this point.  All anyone can do is guess.  So, without any trash talk, here's what I think might happen:

tampa bay at GREEN BAY

buffalo at KANSAS CITY

NFL Divisional Playoff Picks ~ 1/16 & 17/2021

So, last weekend we had the (Super) Wild Card Games.  Six of them.  I got 4 right and I'm still trying to figure out the Pittsburgh situation.  Seattle lost to the Rams and they deserved to, in my humble opinion.

Well......that's all in the past.  This week we have four games:

l.a. rams at GREEN BAY
BALTIMORE at buffalo

cleveland at KANSAS CITY
TAMPA BAY at new orleans

Covid Vaccine

So have you received your little Covid 19 Vaccination?  If you have, good for you.  I have not.  I am old enough to be at high risk, but I live in Illinois.  You see, in Illinois, everything is crooked.  The state politicians are sleezeballs who will suck an extra buck at every opportunity.  I could see them black marketing the stuff to Wisconsin.  I'm serious.

It's too late, but how's this for an idea.  How about they set up a list of taxpayers.  Those who actually paid the most net tax, after deductions in relationship to their gross annual income get to be vaccinated first.  Harsh?  No, skip that.  Please forget that you read it.  Being a productive person is no longer important.

Everyone should get it, for free, no matter how their area voted in the last election.  Rural areas, too.

The bottom line is that I hope that the vaccine is distributed quickly to the entire world.
Even China.

NFL Picks - Wild Card Weekend ~ 1/9 & 10, 2021

Last week was not too bad,  I correctly picked 14 of 16 games.  Now we have Wild Card Weekend.  All of these teams are good.  I don't think that any of them are ready for the "Big Game."  As NFL games go, this may very well be the best weekend of football of the entire season/post season.

Here goes:

indianapolis at BUFFALO

l.a. rams at SEATTLE

TAMPA BAY at washington

BALTIMORE at tennessee

chicago at NEW ORLEANS

cleveland at PITTSBURGH

NFL Picks ~ Week 17, 2020-21

Well....... here we are at Week 17.  This is probably the most difficult week to predict.  Motivation?  Who has it and why do they have it.  Some want to get to the Super Bowl, others know they can't make it.  Some want to get signed for next year, others have a long-term contract and it doesn't matter.  In some cases, the teams are concerned about injuries to key players, so they may not be playing for as many minutes as much as they should or could.

Whatever.  Crank up the fake crowd noise and let's get on with it.........

atlanta at TAMPA BAY
dallas at GIANTS
jets at NEW ENGLAND
MINNESOTA at detroit
pittsburgh at CLEVELAND
BALTIMORE at cincinnati
miami at BUFFALO

SEATTLE at san francisco
ARIZONA at l.a. rams
jacksonville at INDIANAPOLIS
TENNESSEE at houston
l.a. chargers at KANSAS CITY
GREEN BAY at chicago
NEW ORLEANS at carolina
LAS VEGAS at denver

WASHINGTON at philadelphia

NFL Picks ~ Week 16, 2020

Last week was a step in the right direction!  I went 10 & 6.  Not bad when you consider that I didn't expect Cincinnati to beat Pittsburgh or the Jets to get their first win of the season against the Rams.  I mentioned last week about a couple of rants that I have concerning the NFL.  First, it's the occasional (or frequent) lack of sportsmanship on the part of defensive players.  Guys, it's ok to make a tackle.  That's what you are being paid to do.  We expect it, but that's enough.  You don't have to act like a blood thirsty animal-in-the-wild when you're done.  A clean tackle is enough, thank you.

Second is with the networks.  You are all guilty of this.  Visually, you may want to heed the 180 degree rule.  This is basically keeping your cameras' coverage from a perspective from one side of the field without switching to a camera on the other side of the field.  When the 180 rule is broken, the offense seems to be going in the opposite direction.  This is disorienting and sloppy.  Please don't do it.

Third, players; when you miss a tackle or screw up in any way, please don't fake an injury.  This really makes you look doubly bad, not to mention stupid.  I am sure that there is a lot of pain involved in the game, but we aren't playing 5th grade youth football.

I can't wait to see the comments.

Here are my picks...........

minnesota at NEW ORLEANS

TAMPA BAY at detroit
SAN FRANCISCO at arizona
miami at LAS VEGAS

INDIANAPOLIS at pittsburgh
atlanta at KANSAS CITY
