Butterball is the largest turkey company in the USA. 25% of the turkeys served on Thanksgiving are Butterballs. Now for the shortage. There is no shortage of frozen turkeys. The shortage is with FRESH turkeys of 16 pounds or more. Butterball says that they and their suppliers failed to fatten up enough birds in time for "Turkey Day." No reason was given. That's right, they can't figure out why they don't have enough access to enough fat turkeys. That....or they don't want to tell us.
Either way, they expect to have enough fresh turkeys of all sizes in time for Christmas.
